The Performance Improvement Tool Kits (PI Tool Kits) for Emergency Medicine Physicians and Hospitalists, components of the Antimicrobial Resistance Education Alliance (AREA) Initiative, are how-to guides with resources and tools that physicians could use to improve antibiotic management and infection control in their hospitals.
Each PI Tool Kit includes tools for self-assessment, planning, performance measurement, and monitoring; current clinical practice guidelines and practice standards; examples of clinical pathways, templates, and checklists; examples of strategies and interventions; references; and links to educational resources.
The content covers selected interventions tailored to the hospital settings, while the scope of the PI Tool Kits has been narrowed to infections that are commonly seen by emergency medicine physicians and hospitalists and where antimicrobial resistance has become an issue. Each section includes resources and tools to support the planning and implementation of performance improvement activities by physicians like you.
